Heiman Strong Updates

Jonathan and I, and our new dog Mookie, got to visit the Heiman Nieces and Nephews on Sunday!  Mookie loved meeting them, and I think the feeling was mutual! :-)  We love these Kiddos and their Parents!

Here are Debbie's most recent updates regarding Scott's continued Fight against DSRCT.  Thanks for following their Story and for your continued thoughts and prayers! :-)

Radiation Scheduled

Scott had his PET scan yesterday. We have not heard results yet. I was hoping to hear today, but I just got a call saying that it will most likely be next week.

Scott's radiation planning was done yesterday. Dr. Firat will be doing some additional planning before he sees Scott again. 

Scott will go in on Tuesday, July 26th for a dry run for radiation treatment. After they are sure everything looks good, Scott's treatment will begin that day. He will then receive treatment Monday through Friday for 4 weeks. His 20th and last treatment will be August 22nd, which is the kid's first day of school. 

Please pray that the side effects from his treatment will not be too serious. Thank you!

PET Results

We received results from the PET scan. It revealed the same news that the CT did. No new tumors in the peritoneum. Liver tumors remain stable. The tumors still have SUV (standardized uptake value). That is just saying that the tumors still have active disease of cancer. We assumed that they would, but we were praying that they would show no activity.

Scott will start his radiation a week from today. He has experienced a new rash since Saturday night. It continues to spread. It was just hands and feet. Last night and today, it is starting to spread up his arms and legs. I've been in contact with MSKCC and all of our Doctors at Froedtert. We are praying that it isn't from penicillin. He takes penicillin twice a day since having his spleen removed. We'll have to figure out what to do if it is a reaction to his antibiotic. 

For today and tomorrow, we are just trying to enjoy a spontaneous trip to the Dells. I hope Scott can enjoy himself a little bit. Hopefully the kids joy will make him happy.
